Arsenal’s Transfer Round Up

Arsenal Rumour Round-Up:

Round-up of all the week’s transfer stories involving Arsenal!
Arsenal will launch a bid for Genoa keeper Mattia Perin. (Daily Mirror)
Perin may be a good goalkeeper but we already have 3 goalkeepers in the squad, and despite Szczesny being dropped recently we are unlikely to look for a replacement, with Ospina performing well.
Likelihood: 2/10
Arsenal are ready to begin talks with Borussia Dortmund over a £63m deal to sign Ilkay Gundogan and Mats Hummels. (Daily Star)
As much as I’d love to say this is a certainty, unfortunately I cannot! With sources reporting that we have just £20m to spend this window, it seems impossible we’d sign either player this month. However, we’ve made a marquee signing in each of the last 2 Summer windows, so who’s to say we wouldn’t sign either in the summer? Hummels and Gundogan would both fit in well to our team, but would Wenger be willing to spend £63m to get the pair?
Likelihood: 5/10
Arsenal are monitoring Almeria winger Edgar, with the Spanish club ready to sell for £2million. (Various)
Seems likely to be a story of little substance nicked by the English media Sent from my iPad
Likelihood: 3/10
Arsenal are still in the hunt for Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Marcelo Brozovic. (Sunday Star)
This is one story that would appear to have some substance. Our interest in Brozovic has been widely reported, with some sources even stating we’d made a bid. Unsure if we will actually sign him, and don’t know a lot about the player so can’t speculate much, but Wenger seems to like him.
Likelihood: 7/10
Arsenal are interested in Villarreal defender Gabriel Paulista and Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi. (Daily Mirror)
We seem to be edging ever close to a deal for Paulista, with a fee of around £10m reported. The deal seems to hinge on the Brazilian receiving a work permit. As for Otamendi, Manchester United were reported as having made a £27m bid earlier this week, so a deal for him seems unlikely. And if we were to sign Paulista we certainly wouldn’t bid huge amounts for Otamendi (even Hummels would be cheaper than him!).
Likelihood:
Paulista: 9/10
Otamendi: 4/10
Arsenal want striker Reece Webb-Foster from Bradford. (Reports)
Liverpool also reported to be in for Webb-Foster. Possibly a signing for the future. Probably one young player on a long list of possible future targets.
Likelihood: 6/10
Sunderland have taken Arsenal centre-back Semi Ajayi on trial. (Reports)
Hopefully he doesn’t leave. Good young player who has been on the bench in a few Premier League games and is certainly worth keeping.
Likelihood: 5/10
Arsenal are weighing up a move for Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote. (Daily Star)
Annual Cheick Tiote link! Can see us signing him in the future. Wenger type of player who has cheekily shown his love for Arsenal on several occasions! Doubt Newcastle would let him leave this window. Maybe a summer bid is required.
Likelihood: 6/10
Arsenal are keeping an eye on Leeds United’s versatile Sam Byram. (Daily Express)
Leeds certainly won’t want to upset their fans anymore by selling star players. Sam Byram is certainly one of them! Good young player, Arsenal quality? Not sure, but he’s one for the future.
Likelihood: 5/10
West Ham have been told they will have to pay £12m to make Carl Jenkinson’s loan move from Arsenal a permanent deal. (Daily Mail)
£12Million?! Wow. Well, I don’t want to see him leave. Jenkinson was sent to West Ham to improve and he’s certainly done that. Should be brought back at the end of the season and put into our squad. Would be just like Wenger to quote ridiculous prices like that! Doubt they’d sign him for that much.
Likelihood (of West Ham signing him for that much): 3/10
Arsenal are interested in Roma striker Mattia Destro. (The Independent)
Tottenham interested too apparently. Not sure why we’re being linked to strikers, don’t need any at the moment really. Maybe in the summer we’ll try to sign him, been linked in the past. Good played, would be a decent signing.
Likelihood: 6/10
