History

 

Chelsea Football Club was formed on the 10th of March 1905 in an upstairs room at the Rising Sun pub. Their first ever home match was against Liverpool, where they beat them 4-0. Chelsea got into the first division very fast, they got promoted just two years later, in 1907. Their first top flight London derby was a 2-1 win against Arsenal the same year.

In 1911 Chelsea got hold of the ‘London victory Cup’. During Chelsea’s 1912/1913 season, they recorded the highest average home attendance in Britain with 32 thousand fans turning to watch them. In 1915 Chelsea reached their first FA Cup final, losing 3-0 to Sheffield United.

In the 1945/55 season Chelsea won the first division league title. Later they won the Community Shield. Chelsea grabbed the League cup in 1965, and also got into the FA Cup Final for the second time in history in 1967. Three years later they got into the final again, this time beating Leeds to get their hands on the FA Cup. This game was watched in the UK only by 28.5 million people on TV.
