Harry Wilson Joins Crewe Alexandra On-Loan From Liverpool

Harry Wilson has joined League One side Crewe Alexandra on a youth loan until 5 January. The winger, 18, has been linked with a loan move to Leeds United in the past, and U21 manager Michael Beale hinted he may go out on loan to aid his experience. Wilson made history when he became Wales’ youngest ever international when he came on as a substitute in Wales 1-1 at Belgium in October 2013.

The winger made his debut for the U18s when he was just 15 years old, and in that breakthrough season of 2012-13, he scored twice in seven games. His first full season in Neil Critchley’s side was a success. He ended the campaign as the Reds’ top-scorer with 14 goals in 26 games.
Despite his age, he made the step up to the U21s that season and has since made 22 appearances in the U21 Premier League, scoring seven goals and making four assists. The Welshman has also experience competing in Europe. He made six appearances in the UEFA Youth League against teams such as Real Madrid, scoring once and making four assists.
He signed his first professional contract in July 2014 and was included in Brendan Rodgers’ first-team squad for the Reds’ pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East. He has played three times this season, scoring once, in Liverpool’s 3-3 draw against Merseyside rivals Everton at Southport.

Wilson is the seventh U21 squad member to leave Liverpool out on loan; after Sheyi Ojo, Lawrence Vigouroux, Jordan Williams, Kevin Stewart, Lloyd Jones and Danny Ward left the club. He will link up with Steve Davis’ squad in time to be available for selection for Saturday’s trip to Wigan Athletic and has been given the number 24 shirt. Due to the deal being a youth loan, he can play for Liverpool should they wish to play him.

The Liverpool Echo also reports that U21 team-mates Jack Dunn and Ryan Kent will follow Wilson out on loan in the near future.
