Liverpool vs Arsenal: Arsenal Player Ratings

Wojciech Szczesny: 8

Somewhat saved the day for Arsenal. Without him, it could’ve been a lot worse for Arsenal at least. Made some fantastic saves and did well to deny a good header from Fabio Borini. For me, he was Arsenal’s MOTM. Very pleasing performance from him.

Calum Chambers: 5

Chambers has looked more comfortable in central defence this season rather than right back where he played today and he certainly struggled. A player with great potential no doubt, but he wasn’t up to it today. He showed how raw and undeveloped he really is.

Mathieu Debuchy: 6.5

A fairly decent performance by the Frenchmen who we saw play in central defence for the second time. Could have done a better job at defending Liverpool’s first goal though but sharpened as the match progressed. One of the better Arsenal players on the pitch today for sure.

Per Mertesacker: 3.5

Awful, sadly. Lack of marking and organisation and completely shied away from Skrtel, allowing him to equalise in the dying minutes of the game. The worst player on the pitch today. Per Mertesacker’s brilliant form in the season after 2013/14 feels distant.

Kieran Gibbs: 6.5

Not much too say for Kieran Gibbs today but he seemed to do okay and provided a bit of crucial solidarity at the back. Despite this, he did let Liverpool’s attackers slip past him on multiple occasions.

Mathieu Flamini: 4.5

After Flamini’s yellow card he looked likely to get sent off. A shaky performance from him committing a few fouls. (As he does) Arguably though, the defensive midfielder did bag himself an assist. However, this doesn’t hide a poor performance from Mathieu Flamini.

Chamberlain: 4

Despite Alex Oxlade Chamberlain’s good run of form in recent games he just simply didn’t look up to it today. Like many Arsenal players he looked very ineffective and didn’t look fit  throughout the game. Not good from the young Englishmen.

Cazorla: 7

Yet another good performance from the little Spaniard who seemed to be helping out his back four a lot today. He was involved in a rather rash incident which saw his shirt ripped but carried his game on strongly. Impressive and very positive performance over all.

Welbeck: 4

It didn’t click for him today. His worst performance for Arsenal which was disappointing to see, went unnoticed for moments of the game and didn’t mange to pressure the liverpool defenders. Not good at all from Danny Welbeck.

Alexis: 4.5

Wasn’t a threat to the Liverpool defence and lost the ball far too much. Disappointing from him seeing as he has put in many much better performances and has often popped up with goals and assists. He’ll be hoping to forget this match at Anfield and regain some form against QPR.

Giroud: 6

His quality goal against the run of play is the only thing I can really pick up on. Another good performance from the striker. Also, you have to feel for Martin Skrtel who was stamped on by Olivier Giroud today.

Campbell: N/A.

Barely got evolved in the game (he obviously didn’t have much time to do so) and didn’t do anything notable to comment on.

Coquelin: 5

Bought on to hold on to the lead but we had no solidarity. Ineffective to be quite honest. It makes you wonder whether it was the right decision to bring the midfielder back from loan and it makes you question his ability and effectiveness that’s for sure.

Monreal: 5

Missed a good chance at the end. Other than that, didn’t do much.
