Liverpool Youngster Jordan Rossiter Set For European Debut

Jordan Rossiter is in line to make his first Europa League start for Liverpool tomorrow night, as the Reds travel to Bordeaux for the opening game in Group B. The midfielder, 18, made his debut for Brendan Rodgers’ side back in September 2014, when he scored in Liverpool’s Captial One Cup win over Middlesbrough. He is now set to make his first start for Liverpool in the Europa League, according to various media outlets.

Rossiter has been heaily tipped to succeed Steven Gerrard as the next ‘Scouser’ in the Liverpool line-up. The midfielder, who has been at Liverpool since the age of six, made his U18s debut when he was 15 years old. Just three years later, Rossiter made his Premier League debut in Liverpool’s 0-0 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last month. Before Rossiter’s debut this season, he had played 30 games for the U21s. In those games, he scored four goals and made four assists. The hard-tackling midfielder has been booked three times however. With James Milner and Jordan Henderson both unavailable for tomorrow’s game, the door of opportunity is opened for Rossiter to make an impact.

Elsewhere, some of Michael Beale’s U21 side have also travelled to France for the game, with six players in total. Captain Cameron Brannagan, defenders Connor Randall and Dan Cleary, midfielders Pedro Chirivella and Adam Phillips and goalkeeper Ryan Fulton are the ones to have travelled. Brannagan will be especially looking to get game time in France. The 18-year-old has started talks about signing a new deal, and will hope he can break into the first-team rather than go out on loan after signing this new contract.
