Rodgers: The Right Man, the Wrong Staff

I’ve done a lot of thinking lately about the situation going on at Liverpool. These past few results before the Bournemouth match have been utterly infuriating. Not just because of the performance, but the team selection, the tactics, and the outrageous substitutions that were made during them. It made me call out for Rodgers to be sacked through sheer belief that he is entirely incompetent of his actions. His repetitive desire to start the likes of Mignolet, Lovren, Johnson, and Gerrard on a consistent basis made me believe he was truly ignorant. But I believe the Man. United game is what successfully made him crack. He realized that changes in his methods need to be made and that they needed to be drastic. I believe had he had the proper staff behind his this entire time, we would’ve never had such a diabolical season such as this.

Rodgers, though as ignorant on this subject as he may be, is in dire need of a defensive coach. Steve Clarke was and still is a great candidate for this role. He made Martin Skrtel, the shirt-tugging, own goal scoring buffoon, player of the year while he was at the club. We conceded fewer goals with him at the club that we did since Rafa Benitez. Now that being said we still conceded nearly 20 more goals than we did with Rafa in charge but it’s still an improvement compared to now. Last season we conceded 50 goals; something that hasn’t happened since 1994 – and currently we’ve conceded 22 which is 6 less than Rafa’s worst season at the helm. Not going to lie bringing Rafa back doesn’t sound so bad if you look at the statistics, especially now that we have money to back him. But I digress we should focus on Brendan. In summary maybe Mike Marsh and even Colin Pascoe should be shown the door. So what’s next after a defensive (and possibly an assistant) coach?

Goalkeepers need a new man to show them the ropes. Clearly Archterberg is incompetent of his role and needs to be shooed out along with Mignolet and Brad Jones. It might be time to bring back Dudek to the club to show these keepers a thing or two. Next thing to renovate would be the physio team. Rodgers sacked quite possibly our best physio staff in the Australians that managed to get an entire season out of Daniel Agger, this is a decision that baffled both Chris Morgan and Zaf Iqbal.  They are currently working with the Aussie Cricket team and apparently receiving massive praise for their efforts. So Rodgers really screwed the pooch on letting them go for reasons many are struggling to understand.

And last but certainly not least is the god forsaken “Transfer Committee” and the scouts that have been informing them. This little band of absolute idiots need to be kicked out of the club and never allowed back in. They are making Damien Comolli look like a reasonable negotiator. Get rid of the scouts who are giving clearly false information and player values and get rid of those who are selecting such ridiculous choices. I understand that FSG have played a role in who we target, but for the love of god you can’t blame them for who we have purchased. All they do is write the bloody checks, it’s the scouts and transfer committee who select who they spend it on. In conclusion I believe once these renovations within the staff have been made we can finally see what kind of manager Brendan Rodgers truly is.
