After rising through the ranks and being included in Liverpool’s match day squad in their recent victory over Middlesbrough, Sheyi Ojo has been very much talked about in and around Melwood.

Ojo joined the club as a 14-year-old in November 2011 from his boyhood club MK Dons, for a reported fee of around £1m. Ojo predominantly featured for the Under 16s in his first season with the Reds, but did make his Under 18s debut as a 15-year-old. In that same season, Ojo represented England at Under 16 level.

Ojo was then a solid foundation in the Under 18s side in the 2012-13 season and also the season after as overall he accumulated 40 appearances scoring seven goals in the process. However, it is this season where Ojo has left his mark. He began the season with Michael Beale’s Liverpool Under 21s, and has stayed their ever since. He got many fans talking as he scored a brace in the Under 21s’ recent 4-0 victory over West Ham. This performance made heads turn at Melwood and Ojo was the next young player to be given a chance by Brendan Rodgers, as he included Ojo in his 18 man squad for the Capital One Cup tie with Middlesbrough.

Ojo is one of the most naturally gifted players and with more games in the Under 21s, there will be no surprises if he is promoted to Brendan Rodgers squad this season as a result of the Reds heavy schedule.
