Sheyi Ojo is reportedly set to sign for Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers on a season-long loan deal. Ojo, 18, enjoyed a loan spell with Wigan last season, where he made 11 appearances, claiming several man-of-the-match performances. It is understood that Wolves boss Kenny Jackett is interested in Ojo as he looks to adjust to life after Bakary Sako, who left Molineux in the summer.
Ojo does have experience in the second tier of English football, and is also an England U18 international. The attacking-midfielder is currently with the Reds’ first-team on their pre-season tour, and scored his first senior goal as Liverpool beat Swindon Town 2-1 on Sunday.
The former MK Dons youngster, who signed for the Reds in 2011, does have a good record against players who are older than him. The starlet made his debut for the U21s aged just 17, and netted two goals in the 4-0 win at West Ham last season. In the U21 Premier League, he made 11 appearances, scoring four goals and making two assists. The exciting youngster also has experience in Europe as Ojo was part of a Liverpool U19s side who played teams such as Real Madrid and Benfica. He made five appearances in the UEFA Youth League, scoring twice.
He has been on the bench for Liverpool’s first-team last season, and manager Brendan Rodgers wants him to go out on loan in order to further his development as a player so he can no longer be a fringe player, but instead be a part of the first-team squad.
