Arsenal Legend claims Fabio Borini should be given a chance

Arsenal legend Ian Wright, who made 288 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 185, has said that Borini deserves a chance instead of Mario Balotelli. The Italian has yet to score a Premier League goal this season, with his only goal coming in the Champions League against Ludogorets.

‘If I was Borini, coming off what I’d be done last season at Sunderland, scoring some important goals, I’d be starting to ask questions.’

‘I’d be saying, “Hang on a minute, this fella’s had a few opportunities now and not only is he not playing well but he’s missing chances as well. I’m waiting for my chance, when am I going to get it?”

‘Lambert the same. People give him a bit of stick but I’d like to see him get the same amount of chances. Yes, Balotelli cost £16 million, but at some stage you’ve got to let him show what he can do.

‘I feel that Balotelli’s had enough chances now and there are players waiting who are chomping at the bit, and I think Borini might be one of them.’

Fabio Borini scored seven goals for Sunderland last season and played 2154 minutes. Borini has only had one start in the Premier League this season, which ended up in a 3-1 loss against West Ham. Borini’s agent has spoken out a lot the past year, and has recently claimed that Inter and other clubs are interested in him. Fabio has showed superb fight and spirit, rejecting QPR and Sunderland to stay and fight for his place. His work rate on the pitch has been fantastic, does he deserve another chance? With Liverpool playing so many games, it could be his time to prove himself soon.

Personally I would like to see Borini play with Balotelli, Liverpool are currently missing someone who has smart movement and can run everywhere. Balotelli isn’t suited to playing on his own, could this work out for both of the Italians?
