Sky Sports this week reported that James Milner had spoken to Liverpool and Arsenal about a potential move this summer. However the Liverpool Echo and other reliable outlets are reporting that James Milner will sign for Liverpool in the summer, with talks expected to happen this week.
The Reds are confident of agreeing a deal, which would see the midfielder move to Brendan’s side on a free transfer. Danny Ings may also be arriving to Anfield.
It was reported that the Englishman was offered a contract close to £200,000 at Manchester City, however with these reports coming through today, it seems as so he’s rejected this contract wanting first team football.
The Telegraph claim that a verbal agreement has already been reached between Liverpool and Milner, so now it’s just the waiting game. They also report that Milner will become one of the top earners at Liverpool.
Is James Milner worth it? He’s versatile, which would be very useful. He also has that experience and leadership, and with Gerrard leaving this summer and the likes of Lucas potentially leaving, the Reds need it.
He played a total of 147 times for Manchester City, scoring a few crucial goals for the Blues. He started of his career at Leeds United, making his debut at the age of 16 years and 309 days (This made him the second youngest player ever to play in the Premier League). He also became the youngest player to score in the Premier League.
Danny Ings has also been heavily linked with Liverpool, and in the same article, the Telegraph say that a verbal agreement has been reached between Ings and Liverpool – after rejecting an approach from Tottenham.
Liverpool have been linked with many English players already, with right back Clyne being one of them – after a £10 million bid got rejected. However the BBC does understand that Liverpool will come in for a better offer.
