Sergi Canos is set to leave Liverpool Football Club after the Reds accepted a £2.5m bid from Championship side Norwich City for the services of the youngster.
The U21 winger, 19, has attracted interest from several Football League clubs after impressing on his season-long loan at Championship side Brentford.
However, after competing with Bristol City last week, Norwich City have appeared to win the race for Canos, who is set to leave Liverpool after three years at the club.
Canos joined Liverpool from La Masia in the summer of 2013, and came to the Kirkby Academy with a lot of potential on his shoulders.
He progressed through both the U21s and U18s, before making his first-team debut in the 1-1 draw at West Bromwich Albion on 15 May, stating it was a “dream come true” for the Spanish youth international.
His debut for the first-team came after 25 U21 Premier League appearances, where he scored three goals and provided seven assists.
It also ended a successful 2015/16 season on a personal level, after Canos also had a successful loan spell at Brentford.
The winger made 39 appearances for Dean Smith’s side, where he quickly became a fans favourite, backed up by his seven goals and five assists during his
time at Griffin Park.
Canos has permission to speak to Norwich after his representatives could not reach an agreement with Liverpool for a new contract, where he has one year remaining on his current deal.
It is understood that Canos and his representatives wanted as much as £10,000 a week, which will see him earn more than any of the other 14 U21 players to have broke through to the first-team in recent seasons.
Norwich are now in pole position to land Canos, despite an offer being made by Bristol City and interest shown by Fulham, Reading and SPL side Rangers.
The Canaries are looking to replace Nathan Redmond, who joined Southampton last week for an undisclosed fee rumoured to be between £11m-£12m.
