Liverpool have announced the signing of Nathaniel Clyne, the right back played 94 times for Southampton – scoring three. One of his more publically known goals was the one against Arsenal, where he scored a magnificent long-range effort which gave them a 2-1 win. He also scored against Liverpool in the opening game.
The player started of at Crystal Palace, where he made his debut against Barnsley at just 17. He ended up making a total of 122 appearances for the Eagles. He’s also represented England in youth and senior level, making his debut in November last year.

The Liverpool Echo reported that the Englishman would undergo a medical on Monday, and will put pen to paper on a five-year contract this week. The fee is rumoured to be around £12.5m. This is Liverpool’s sixth signing of the summer – now signing James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez and the main guy, Roberto Firmino. This is clearly a replacement for Glen Johnson, who left the club as a free agent.
This will also be the fourth English signing this transfer window, so I don’t think the home grown rule will be too much of an issue for us. The right-back attempted 159 tackles, of which he won the ball in 47%; he also made 63 interceptions over the course of the campaign. Could he be a real key player for Liverpool? We’ll soon see.
