Liverpool vs Crystal Palace: Preview. Thank You Gerrard

Liverpool’s last home game of the season. Gerrard’s final appearance at Anfield. It’s going to be an emotional day for us Liverpool fans, and with Liverpool’s disappointing recent form, the Reds don’t really have anything to play for. Crystal Palace travel to Anfield, and kick off at 5:30pm. The late kick off game!

Earlier this season, Liverpool lost 3-1 in the last Premier League meeting with Palace at Selhurst Park. However Liverpool did beat Palace 2-1 in the FA Cup in the February period.

Gerrard’s Testimonial

Saturday is all going to be about Gerrard’s final game at Anfield. I don’t think it’s actually hit me yet, it’s going to be a sad day for all. I’ve supported Liverpool at such a young age, and Gerrard was doing his early wonders at Liverpool. What a player he became for Liverpool. Such a unique player in the modern footballing world, you don’t see a player of his calibre staying at a club who recently have struggled to even get into the top four and actually stay for a number of years. You don’t get that anymore, will we in the future? We’ll see.

Gerrard gave a heartwarming speech, which you can read from here.

Some team news, Sakho could be back for the game as he returned to training on Thursday. Meanwhile many outlets have confirmed that Daniel Sturridge has been injured again for a number of months, and the Physio Room report than Jon Flanagan is out for the whole of 2015 after he had to undergo another operation. However Crystal Palace luckily only have one player out for the game, Thomas.

Palace are currently in a run of bad form, losing four games on the bounce. Palace striker, Jason Puncheon ended a recent 355 minutes goal drought, meanwhile Balotelli’s… well let’s not talk about that. Liverpool have won just once in their last four meetings with Palace. However Palace have never done the double over Liverpool, could this be the first time? They’re currently 6/1 at Titanbet to beat Liverpool. Do you think they could do it?

Crystal Palace, managed by Alan Pardew, are currently lying in 12th place – who are two points of Everton. Liverpool have virtually confirmed their fifth place, they are four points in front of Tottenham and six points behind rivals, Manchester United. After a disappointing season, it’s now just about giving Gerrard a proper send off.

I’m predicting Balotelli to start for the Reds, and Gerrard is virtually confirmed that he’ll start against Palace. The bookies are liking Gerrard’s chances, with the captain 6/1 to be the first goalscorer. Who would you start up front?
