Liverpool Under-21 duo Ryan Kent and Kevin Stewart have both been linked with loan moves to League One side Swindon Town. Kent and Stewart are both key members of Michael Beale’s side, and will be looking to get experience in the football league. Stewart enjoyed loan spells at Burton Albion and Cheltenham Town last season, whilst Kent is yet to have a taste of lower league football.
Kent, 18, impressed for the Under-21s last season in an injury-hit season, scoring 6 goals and creating 4 assists in 14 Premier League games. The winger’s representatives admits the talk of a loan move is not surprising, but hasn’t ruled out him being contacted, despite reports. They told the Swindon Advertiser: “Ryan had a great end to last season and it wouldn’t surprise me that people are asking about him on loan. He is a real top talent and whoever does get the lad has got a real special player on loan.” It is understood that Swindon are linked with him, and Kent is only looking to secure a move on loan. We also understand that Swindon will talk with Kent in detail about a loan spell over the coming weeks.
Stewart, who can play across the defence as well as in midfield, was seen spotted at the County Ground, but it is unsure whether the move is permanent or temporary. Stewart made 11 appearances in League Two last season, scoring three goals. Stewart has played at the County Ground before, featuring for Tottenham in July 2013. If Stewart does join Mark Cooper’s side either on loan or permanently, it will see the relationship between Liverpool and Swindon continue, as Brad Smith played 11 games for the League One outfit last season. Stewart has one-year left on his contract at Anfield after following Academy Director Alex Inglethorpe from North London in 2014. We understand that a source close to the football club have revealed that Stewart’s move is more likely to be a permanent deal, as negotiations have started in mid-June.
