There’s been a lot of talk about Shaqiri – with Juventus reportedly out of the race. Di Marzio reported last night that Liverpool are pushing hard on the deal. Matthew Amalfitano from Di Marzio say that Inter are also in the race, and Bayern Munich are satisfied with both Inter and Liverpool’s propositions – so it’s in Shaqiri’s court. Liverpool have apparently made a bid of £11 million, which would be a fantastic coup. According to Swiss Newspaper, Blick, Liverpool are favourtes due to their financial superiority over the Serie A side.
Shaqiri has only made three starts out of a possible 17 for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga this season, which is nowhere near enough with the quality he has. In that time, he’s scored one and assisted two. Not too bad. Last season saw him score six and assist two times in 799 minutes – an average off a goal or an assist every 100 minutes. The likes of Inter and Manchester United are also keen on him, with SkyBet claiming Inter are favourites (4/5) – with Liverpool being second favourites after their odds were slashed from 4/1 to 6/5. He is 12/1 to stay at Bayern – not very likely. You can read more here.
Liverpool are apparently looking at young Valencia striker, Paco Alacer, who reportedly has a £14 million release clause. Marca claim that talks to extend his deal at Valencia have stalled – he is available on a free next summer. The 21 year old has made 12 starts in La Liga, scoring five and assisting four. He is Valencia’s top goal scorer, and only Pablo Platti has made more assists than him for Valencia (5). The Reds have reportedly spoken to his representatives over his availability.
Toronto FC striker and ex Tottenham star, Jermaine Defoe, has been offered to Liverpool in the January Transfer Window according to the Telegraph. With the Englishman reportedly ‘desperate’ to return to the Premier League. The problem about Defoe is that Toronto are insisting they do not want to loan him and instead want £6 million for him. Jermaine Defoe has had a good season for Toronto, scoring eleven goals and assisting twice in just 19 appearances.
Raheem Sterling is expected to sign a five year contract with Liverpool by the end of the month according to the Telegraph, with the reported wage being £100,000. A coincidence after Gerrard confirmed he will be leaving Liverpool Football Club?
Meanwhile, The Mirror have reported that Brazilian goalkeeper Neto has put Liverpool on red alert after confirming he would not be renewing his contract with Fiorentina.
“ACF Fiorentina must announce that goalkeeper Norberto Murara Neto today officially informed the club of his intention not to prolong his contract with the Viola. The decision is definitive.”

Some shocking news, Steven Gerrard set to return to Liverpool… Already? The Telegraph report that Steven Gerrard may consider re-signing the former England captain on loan next January. The 34 year old is rumoured to sign for LA Galaxy, after confirming he will leave Liverpool.
So I’ll leave you with this quote…
Gerrard: “I’ll only come back and serve the club if I feel as if I can help.”
