Croatian outlet Vecernji List claim Mateo Kovacic has played his last game for Inter, and is set to join Liverpool. He has reportedly agreed terms with the Reds, however the offer Liverpool handed in is not even close to what Inter expect. They offered 21 million euros earlier this week and Inter say it’s not enough.
Inter want more than 25 Million Euros, as they feel he’s move valueable than Dejan Lovren – which is a very fair assessment. £20 million for Lovren is one of the worst buys for Liverpool, and this deal could have also affected the Kovacic deal which makes it even worse.
Earlier this week Gazzetta dello Sport also reported that Liverpool have bid for Kovacic three times, with the lowest being €18m and the highest being €21m. They also claim that the Liverpool manager is a massive admirer of Kovacic, and Liverpool will continue to press further.
He signed a contract with Inter fairly recently, however as we saw with Suarez, that doesn’t always meet much.
The midfielder has played 41 times this season, scoring 5 goals and assisting three times. Not a great record, however he can dictate play so well. He has an 88% passing accuracy in the Serie A, which is superb. He on average plays 1.8 key passes a game, another good record.
Kovacic could potentially be the perfect replacement for long serving Steven Gerrard, after he confirmed earlier this year that he was going to leave the 5 European Champions to LA Galaxy.
Milner has signed for the Reds, and Ings is set to sign and be confirmed really soon as well.
