Bobby Adekanye Signs For Liverpool on a Three-Year deal

Bobby Adekanye has announced on social media that he has signed for Premier League side Liverpool. Adekayne, 16, was previosuly linked with Eredivisie sides Ajax and PSV, where he spent some time on loan last season. It seems that Liverpool have won the race to sign the winger, with him writing: “I am very happy to sign for Liverpool,” on his Instagram account. The Nigerian-born starlet joins Liverpool on a free transfer and signs on a three-year deal.

Adekanye is a Holland U16 international and has been compared to a younger version of Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben. He initially signed for Barcelona from Ajax in 2011, but part of his transfer was deemed illegal, which led to the club being handed a transfer embargo. This meant that the La Liga outfit had no choice to send him out on loan to get game time.

The winger joined PSV Eindhoven for the 2014/15 season and impressed for their youth sides. When he returned to his parent club, Barcelona were keen on retaining his services until their embargo was lifted. However, Adekanye wanted to play regular football and Liverpool promised that for the left-footed, pacy wide man.

It is understood that Adekanye joined the Reds as he was told he will play for the club’s reserve side. Adekanye becomes the second youngster to sign for Liverpool in this transfer window, after Charlton youngster Joe Gomez signed on a £3.5m deal.

The local media have also confirmed that Brooks Lennon has completed his transfer to Liverpool from Real Salt Lake. Lennon, 17, was heavily linked with a return to the Reds after two trials with the club. He featured for the U17 side in the tour of Indonesia before helping the same side beat Bundesliga outfit Schalke.

It appears that Lennon has now been given Irish citizenship which will allow him to play overseas and this was the only factor that was halting a move. Lennon spent time at both Aston Villa and Sporting Lisbon, but it now seems that he will join Adekanye as a Liverpool player next season.
