Ryan Kent is the latest youngster to be profiled in the series of ‘Who is…’. If you have missed previous editions of Lloyd Jones, Sheyi Ojo, Harry Wilson and Cameron Brannagan, then they will be on the site.
Kent, 17, joined the clubs Academy at the age of nine, where he quickly developed into the versatile attacking midfielder he is today. Having represented the Under 18s in the previous two seasons, Kent has now established himself as an Under 21 regular under new coach Michael Beale despite playing at an age group four years older than him.
Kent is a dynamic attacking midfielder that predominantly plays on either flank, but has been known to play as a false number nine as well as in the number 10 role.
In December 2013, Kent was handed a professional contract by the club and looks set to follow in the footsteps of fellow wingers Raheem Sterling and Jordon Ibe in breaking through to the first team.
Kent has had an impressive season thus far. In the Barclays Under 21 Premier League, he has played 6 times, scoring two goals whilst assisting two others. He has also gained valuable European experience in the UEFA Youth League, playing against the likes of Real Madrid and Basel. In the four games he has played in this competition he has assisted two goals. That is not the only European competition he has been involved in. During the 2012-13 season, Kent featured in a Liverpool side that was involved in the NextGen Series, which is the equivalent of the UEFA Youth League today.

He was recently involved in two England Under 18s games, and he instantly made an impact for his country. In the two games he has played with this national side, Kent has found the net twice for Neil Dewsnip, a minute per goal ratio of just over 75 minutes.
Kent is a promising youngster that has competed in various tournaments all over Europe and USA, and has impressed every time he plays. At present time, he seems to do no wrong in his first season at Under 21 level, and now that he is impressing at a national level as well, the future is very bright for this young prodigy.
